Opening up the kitchen
Let the kitchen join the rest of the house.
A lot of Oʻahu homes from the 1970s through the '90s put the kitchen behind a wall. Whoever's cooking misses the conversation, and the trade winds never reach the stove. New cabinetry, an island, and a wider nonbearing opening can change how the whole house feels.
- Nonbearing walls, opened with care. Our C-5 license covers nonbearing partitions, which is what opens up most galley kitchens. If a wall holds up the house, that's a separately licensed contractor's work, and we tell you before anything comes down.
- Plumbing and wiring by the right pros. A licensed plumber handles the plumbing and a licensed electrician the wiring. Who does what is in your written scope before we start, so nothing gets figured out mid-demo.
- Planned around your mornings. Where the coffee lives, where the rice cooker goes, where kupuna sit, which way the breeze comes through. We plan the island, storage, and lighting around how your household actually uses the room.

PHASE 2
Design & Written Scope
Layout, cabinetry, counters, and tile chosen with Jessica at the showroom. Your tier, price, and start date in writing before any work.
PHASE 3
Careful Demo & Rebuild
We seal off the work zone, keep dust out of the rest of the house, and clean up daily. Then cabinetry, millwork, and finish carpentry go in.
PHASE 4
Finish & Final Walkthrough
Counters, hardware, and the last coat of paint. Then we walk every inch of it with you and fix anything that isn't right.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost on Oʻahu?
Kitchen remodels with Island Contractors start at $35,000. We price every kitchen through three published tiers: Beautiful from $35,000, Impressive from $45,000, and Exquisite from $65,000, so you can see what each level buys before you commit. The $250 on-site consultation is credited back to your project on contract, and the pricing page shows the materials behind each tier.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Most kitchens take several weeks from demo to final walkthrough. The exact number depends on your cabinetry lead time, how much the layout changes, the materials you choose, and permit timing at the City and County's DPP. Before we start, you get a written schedule for your specific scope, and if anything shifts it, you hear it from us first.
Can you open up my kitchen by removing a wall?
Often, yes. Our C-5 license covers removing or moving nonbearing partition walls, which is how many Oʻahu galley kitchens get opened up. It does not cover load-bearing walls, beams, or foundations. We check the wall during your consultation. If it carries load, we say so before anything is demolished, and your written scope names the licensed contractor and any DPP permit that part of the job needs.
Can you help plan my kitchen cabinets?
We design cabinet layouts around your room, help you choose styles and finishes, and install the selected cabinets. Compare door styles, finishes and storage options with Jessica at our Kapolei showroom. Your layout, selections and price go into your written scope.
Do you handle design and construction, or do I need a separate designer?
You don't need a separate designer. We're a design-build company, so layout, material selection, and the carpentry run through one team. Designer Jessica walks you through cabinetry, counters, tile, and hardware at our Kapolei showroom, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., and the company that planned your kitchen is the one that builds it. That's how your ideas and your price stay connected from the first meeting to the last walkthrough.
